Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Backnix handles personal data when you browse our website, contact us, create an account or use our services. It describes the information we process, the reasons for processing it, the choices available to you and how to contact us with a privacy request.
This policy applies to Backnix website visitors, prospective customers, account holders and people whose information is provided to us in connection with a customer account. If you use Backnix through an organization, that organization may also have its own privacy notice.

1. Who is responsible for your data
Backnix is responsible for personal data processed for this website, account administration, customer support, security and service operations. If you use Backnix through an organization, that organization may decide why certain data is submitted to the service and may act as the controller for that data; Backnix then processes it to provide the service under the applicable customer agreement.
For privacy questions or requests, contact us through the contact page. Please do not include passwords, backup contents, encryption keys or other sensitive secrets in your request.
2. Personal data we process
The information depends on how you interact with Backnix:
- Contact and sales enquiries: name, email address, company, country if provided, service of interest and the message you send.
- Account and billing administration: name, email, company details, account status, timezone and currency preferences, plan and transaction records. Passwords are stored as cryptographic hashes, not as readable text.
- Website operation and security: requested pages, timestamps, browser and device information, user agent and truncated IP information used for security, rate limiting and abuse prevention.
- Optional analytics and campaign attribution: pseudonymous visitor and session identifiers, pages viewed, referrer, campaign parameters and approximate country when supplied by trusted network infrastructure. Analytics and advertising measurement are used only when enabled and, where required, after consent.
- Service data: information needed to configure and operate a customer account, such as storage destinations, regions, usage and service events. The backup content and encryption keys customers manage are treated as customer data and are not needed to answer a general website enquiry.
Please do not send special-category or other sensitive personal data through public forms unless it is necessary and you have a lawful basis to do so.
3. How data is collected
We receive information directly from you when you submit a form, create or manage an account, contact support or configure a service. Some technical and security information is generated automatically when your browser communicates with the website. If you arrive through a campaign link, campaign parameters may be present in the URL; optional attribution identifiers are handled according to your consent choices and our Cookie Policy.
When an organization administers your account or provides information about its users, we may receive relevant account details from that organization.
4. How and why we use data
- Respond to enquiries, provide requested information and follow up on a business request.
- Create and administer accounts, provide contracted features, manage plans and support customers.
- Protect the website and service, authenticate users, investigate suspicious activity and enforce our terms.
- Understand website performance and campaign effectiveness when optional measurement is enabled and permitted by your choices.
- Maintain business, security and operational records and meet legal obligations.
- Communicate service, account, policy and security information. Marketing communications are sent only where permitted, and you can ask us to stop them.
We do not sell personal data. We do not use the contents of customer backups to target advertising.
5. Legal grounds for processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on the basis appropriate to the purpose. This may include taking steps at your request or performing a contract; our legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving the service, balanced against your rights; your consent for optional analytics, cookies or marketing activities where required; and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent at any time for future processing that relies on it. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out lawfully.
6. Cookies and analytics choices
Necessary cookies support core functions such as security, sign-in, remembering preferences and recording your privacy choices. Optional analytics or marketing technologies are used only when enabled and in accordance with your consent choices and applicable law. You can review or change those choices through the Cookie Policy and preferences. Disabling optional measurement does not prevent you from browsing the public website.
7. When we share data
We share personal data only as needed for the purposes described above. Recipients may include providers that host the website or database, deliver email, provide object storage selected for a service, support payment processing when available, or provide analytics when enabled. These providers may process data under our instructions or their own applicable terms.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to respond to valid legal process, to protect people and services from harm or abuse, or in connection with a corporate transaction, subject to applicable safeguards. We do not authorize service providers to use customer backup data for their own advertising.
8. International data transfers
Backnix and its providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Where a transfer is subject to legal requirements, we use an applicable transfer mechanism or other safeguard and take steps required by law. Storage location options, when available for a service, are described in the relevant product or plan information; they do not necessarily determine where all account or operational data is processed.
9. How long we keep data
We keep personal data only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including providing the service, resolving disputes, maintaining security and meeting legal or accounting requirements. Contact enquiries are retained for the period needed to respond and manage the resulting relationship. Account and transaction records are retained while the account is active and for any additional period required for legitimate business or legal purposes.
Detailed analytics records are retained for a limited period and may then be converted into aggregate statistics. Cookie and session lifetimes vary by purpose; see the Cookie Policy. When information is no longer required, we delete it or remove identifying details where practicable, subject to backups and lawful retention requirements.
10. Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including access controls, secure authentication, password hashing, encryption for sensitive stored credentials, encrypted connections, monitoring and audit records. No internet service or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Customers are responsible for protecting their credentials and encryption keys and for limiting access to their accounts.
11. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have the right to request confirmation of processing, access, correction, deletion or anonymization, portability, information about sharing, restriction or objection to certain processing, and withdrawal of consent. You may also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
To submit a request, use the contact page and identify the account or interaction involved. We may ask for reasonable information to verify your identity and protect someone else's data. We will respond within the period required by applicable law. You can change optional cookie choices through the Cookie Policy and preferences.
12. Children
Backnix is a business service and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through the public website. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, contact us so we can review and take appropriate action.
13. Third-party websites
Our website may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own notices, and Backnix is not responsible for their content or handling of personal data. Review their privacy information before providing data to them.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as our services, data practices or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page with its latest update date. If a change materially affects how we process personal data, we will provide additional notice where required.
